…and so we need to work and pray that many more may hear God’s call to embrace the presbyterate and the consecrated life…
It’s been reported that there’s been a recent increase in vocations in the authentic Church, particularly in the Global South and in faithful Western dioceses.* This is cause to rejoice, but not to be complacent, and so we need to work and pray that many more may hear God’s call to embrace the presbyterate and the consecrated life.
Now, there any many prayers for vocations, like those at EWTN, the Circle of Prayer, the webpage of the USCCB, catholicism.about.com, and St. Charles Borromeo parish. None are obligatory forms, as far as I know, so this is my own:
Heavenly Father, with Christ our Lord and the Holy Spirit we worship You as one eternal God, and we thank You for the gift of salvation that You gave us through Christ in His Church.
Hear now, oh Lord, the prayers of Your people, who ever acknowledge our need of Your grace. Send unto us priests, by whose consecrated hands Your Son shares with us His Body and Blood. Raise up for us religious, sisters and brothers, whose consecrated lives witness to the eternity of Your Kingdom. Grant us lay women and men who are awake to their sacred mission, and who follow Your call wherever it may lead.
By Your truth and love, make the Church ever alive with humble service, that we may glorify You more and more, now and forever. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Holy God! Holy Mighty One!… (for Eastern Christians) Glory be to the Father… (for Latin Christians)
May God bless us all.
